Amy Robinson
I started playing pickleball and quickly became obsessed with how to get better, fast. Playing sports and having a competitive spirit are in my Robinson and Breckenridge DNA. I knew that I needed the right paddle. A few friends who had been playing pickleball longer than me said, "It's not about the paddle, it's about the player." I stubbornly :) disagreed. Fast forward. I flew to Los Angeles to talk with a friend about a new way to buy paddles online. I've never thought of this friend as an athlete but it turns out that she was taking pickleball lessons from a pro player and coach. She told me that I have to meet her coach. “He is a great guy and funny (he works at The Groundlings as a sketch comedian/actor).”
Eliot Schwartz
The next day Eliot and I met at a coffee shop in West Hollywood. We immediately knew that we would be co-founders and start a new ecommerce business for high-performance pickleball paddles. Eliot had been watching players for years using paddles that didn't elevate their game, and I was obsessed with the data side of matching paddles to players. As we researched and observed the paddle selection process for months, we realized that players are overwhelmed (frustrated, confused) by the process of choosing their paddle.
